The Quiet Crisis in Music Education

AI Is Replacing Musicians.
Save Your Musicianship
Before It's Too Late.

Every week, another AI tool gets better at composing, performing, and producing music. Real musicianship — the ability to read, write, and understand music as a language — is becoming rare. Himig is where serious musicians go to keep it.

Built by a UP College of Music musician. For musicians who refuse to be replaced.

What’s Happening to Musicians Right Now

AI Doesn’t Need You To Read Music.
And That’s The Whole Problem.

AI is composing better every month

Suno, Udio, and Stable Audio can now generate full songs from a text prompt. Producers are already using them. Studio musicians are already losing gigs.

Music schools are shrinking

Enrollment in classical and theory programs has dropped every year for a decade. The next generation isn't learning to read music — they're learning to prompt AI.

The musicians who survive will be literate

When AI can do everything, the only musicians left standing are the ones who understand what they're playing. Literacy is no longer optional. It's survival.

“If you can’t read what you play, you can be replaced. If you can, you can’t.”

Introducing Himig

The Daily Practice That Keeps
Real Musicianship Alive.

Himig is a six-minute daily practice that builds music literacy from the ground up — for self-taught musicians, church players, choir members, and anyone who has been playing for years without ever learning to read.

Daily Algorithmic Practice

Six minutes a day. Three bars at your level. Exercises generated fresh every session — never the same twice. Real practice, not gamified clicking.

Built On Five Centuries Of Pedagogy

Grounded in the same theory taught at UP College of Music, Berklee, and the Royal Academy. Adapted for adults learning on their phone at 11pm after work.

Filipino-First, Globally Honest

₱150 a month. Less than two cups of coffee. Built in Manila by a Filipino musician who refuses to let music literacy become a luxury.

How Himig Works

Three Steps. Six Minutes A Day.
No Excuses.

Why I Built Himig

Vanessa, Founder of Himig

Vanessa

Founder, Himig
UP College of Music

I'm Vanessa. I Almost Failed Music School.

I'm a student at UP College of Music. I've been playing music since I was a child: by ear, by memory, by feel. But when I walked into the College of Music, the truth caught up with me: I could barely read the thing I'd devoted my life to. I almost got a failing grade. Luckily, I survived (and I'm still surviving lol)

And I don't think this is just my problem. For years I faked it. I memorized melodies. I played by ear purely on piano chords and improvisation. I avoided sheet music like it was poison. Every time someone handed me a hymnal or a lead sheet, I felt the same shame.

Then I watched AI start writing music. Better music. Faster music. And I realized something: if I don't become a literate musician now, AI will replace me before I get the chance to be a real one.

So I built Himig. The tool I needed. The tool I think thousands of Filipino musicians need right now, before it's too late.

Himig is for the church guitarist in Iloilo who has been faking chord charts for eight years. The choir singer in Manila who can't sight-read her part. The retired teacher in Baguio who wants to learn violin but can't afford ₱2,000/hour lessons.

It's also for you. If you've read this far, you already know why.

Questions Before You Join

What People Ask Before Signing Up

No. Himig places you at your exact level — true beginner, intermediate, or advanced — through a 60-second quiz. Even if you've never read a note in your life, the system starts where you are.

Six minutes is the design target. The exercises are short on purpose. Daily consistency matters more than session length.

There's no streak shaming. No celebration animations. No manipulation. If you miss a day, you pick up where you left off. The practice is for you, not for the app.

Because real music education in the Philippines costs ₱2,000+ per hour. Himig has to be affordable to a college student or a working musician. Founding members lock that price forever. After the first hundred, the price goes up.

It's a daily practice, not a course. You stay subscribed as long as you want to keep growing. Cancel any time. No contracts.

Not for the first 14 days. You add a card when you join, the 14 days are free, and you're only charged after that — ₱150/month as a founding member, locked for life. Cancel anytime during the trial and you pay nothing.
